What Goes Into A Recycled Plastic Product?

When you recycle plastic, you are helping the environment and creating products that can be used over and over again. In order for plastic recycling compilation, it must be separated into its different types of materials.

The most common type of plastic is polyethylene terephthalate or PET. PET is used in bottles, cups, and other small containers. The second most common type of plastic is polypropylene. PP is used in packaging food, drinks, and other items.

The third most common type of plastic is cellulose acetate which is found in photos, films, and CDs. Cellulose acetate is difficult to recycle because it breaks down into tiny pieces.

The fourth most common type of plastic is HDPE which is used for water bottles, milk jugs and other large containers. Plastic bottles made from HDPE are often labeled "BPA-free." However, some research suggests that BPA may still be harmful when ingested.

The fifth most common type of plastic is LDPE which is often used for grocery bags, produce bags and other thin sheets. LDPE can also be used to make disposable diapers and other baby products.

Once the plastic has been divided into its different types, it must be melted down. This is done by heating the plastic until it liquefies and then pouring it into a mold. The plastic is then cut into pieces that are the appropriate size for the product that will be used.
