What Are The Different Types Of Car Inspections?

Many people might not understand the basics of car inspections in the UAE. Not only are they needed by law, but they also provide you with an idea of the condition of the vehicle before you purchase it.

There are three main types of vehicle inspection services in Dubai : mechanical, an emission, and an oil change. Mechanical inspections check for problems with the car's engine, brakes, transmission, and drive train. Emission inspections test for pollutants such as carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide. Oil change inspections check for leaks and proper lubrication.

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) conducts annual mechanical, emission and oil change inspections on all new cars registered in Dubai. The RTA also conducts independent third-party inspections on select models of new vehicles.

The Abu Dhabi Police Force conducts annual mechanical and emission inspections on all new cars registered in Abu Dhabi. The Ministry of Interior Affairs in Oman also conducts independent third-party oil change inspections on select models of new vehicles imported into Oman.

The cost of a car inspection in Dubai typically ranges from AED 250-450, depending on the make and model of the vehicle. Some shops may also charge for additional services, such as an engine check or comprehensive safety check. Always ask the mechanic or salesperson about any additional charges beforehand.

In addition, many car dealerships in the UAE also perform mechanical, emission and oil change inspections on vehicles before selling them.
